Ford Ranger Safety Outweighs the Vauxhall Tigra Luxury
Few people consider the likes of a truck, a luxury vehicle. They can be very luxurious depending on your idea of luxury. For instance the Ford Ranger has undergone some transformations over the past couple of years making them more of a luxury vehicle than a work vehicle. They use the same roll stability control as the new F-150 truck with seat-mounted side airbags similar to those in the Mustang. They get an estimated 21 mpg in the city and 26 on the highway. They have an electronic shift-on-the-fly transfer case that is standard for all 4x4 models which allows for quick and easy 4WD engagement. Both the manual and automatic transmissions have an overdrive 5 th gear that also helps conserve fuel on the highway. Of course you must combine the transmission with the 2.3L I-4 engines to get this unsurpassed fuel economy in a truck. They have a state-of-the-art Personal Safety System that comes standard on all Ford Ranger models that includes dual stage driver and front passenger airbags and a front passenger sensing system that can calculate a person’s approximate weight and then sends a signal to automatically activate or deactivate the airbag accordingly. You can’t get more luxury than this! This is likely to be the last model of these vehicles made. They are slated to cease production of them in 2011.
You can’t compare a truck to a sports car. The luxury features are far greater on the sport car than a truck but you can compare engines and safety features. The Vauxhall Tigra is a brash little sports car with an automatic convertible top. It offer front wheel drive like the Ranger with three engine options; 1.3-liter for 70 bhp turbo diesel, 1.4 liter 16 valve for 90 bhp and a 1.8 liter 125 bhp flagship model. The sport version offers a remote control alarm, leather-trimmed steering wheel, storage behind the seats, metallic paint and air conditioning. It also has a 5-speed manual transmission, ABS system and twin airbags. In terms of safety the Ford Ranger outweighs the Vauxhall Tigra three to one. The Tigra is sportier but actually useless when it comes to hauling. |
